Q. Is Pro Tools FREE intended for use with Digidesign hardware?

A. Pro Tools FREE has some system components that are different from other versions of Pro Tools and DOES NOT WORK with most Digidesign hardware. Pro Tools FREE 5.0.1 is compatible with the Audiomedia III card on Win98/Me, but not on the Mac. Other Digidesign hardware products are not recommended for use with Pro Tools FREE. In general, we recommend Pro Tools FREE for use on computers where Digidesign hardware is not installed. Pro Tools LE and TDM versions are fully tested for the best compatibility with our hardware and these are the versions which should be used with our hardware.
